Ever feel like you’re working your fingers to the bone, but your art is just not getting the attention you expected? 😵‍💫 We’ve all been there!

Here are 7 strategies to get your beautiful art noticed in this crazy art world!

Tip 1: Build a Strong Online Presence 💻

In today's digital age, you gotta have an online presence that helps you to stand out! 🌈 Create a website that showcases your artwork, style, and story. Make it visually appealing, easy to navigate, and don't forget to add a clear call-to-action. I love the ease of editing and customization on Wix.

You can certainly use social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook to share your work and connect with potential clients, but be cautious about relying solely on these platforms as your main strategy. They can vanish at any time and your followers and potential clients need to be able to find you elsewhere! Like…. your website! .... or a newsletter!

✦ Tip 2: Attend Industry Events 🎉🎊

Attending art fairs, exhibitions, and conferences is a great way to network and a chance to show off your work! Take advantage of these events to meet other artists, industry professionals, and potential clients. Make sure to have some business cards and promotional materials ready to hand out. If you cannot attend events, you could also benefit from joining an illustrator group, such as the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators or a similar group that pertains to your field of interest.

✦ Tip 3: Collab with Other Creatives! 🤝👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

Collaborating with other artists and creatives is a GREAT way to expand your portfolio and reach new audiences! Look for opportunities to work with writers, designers, and other creatives to offer something unique and fresh! You could cohost an art challenge, organize a contest, or host a giveaway for your collective followers. Be sure the collaboration is beneficial for both of you!

✦ Tip 4: Enter Contests🏆🎨

Participating in contests can be a great way to get your work noticed and recognized! Look for opportunities to submit your work to art contests, design competitions, and awards programs. Even being a finalist can help you get noticed by potential clients and industry professionals.

✦ Tip 5: Reach Out to Potential Clients 📧👀

Don't be afraid to reach out to potential clients! Research companies or publications that align with your style and send them a personalized email or pitch. Make sure to include samples of your work and make it clear why you'd be a good fit for their brand or publication.

✦ Tip 6: Keep Learning and Growing 📚🌱

Art is a constantly evolving field, and it's important to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques. Take classes, attend workshops, and read books to improve your skills and expand your knowledge. There are soooo many learning platforms these days! Check out Skillshare, Creative Bug, or Domestika to name a few. Many artists also offer some pretty amazing courses or very generous tutorials and tips on Patreon!

✦ Tip 7: Be Patient and Persistent ⏰🤞

With the emphasis on persistence! 💪 Unfortunately, facing rejection is just part of the process as an illustrator - or in any artistic field, really! Where one door closes, another one opens! Getting your work noticed definitely takes time and effort, but don't give up! Keep creating and promoting your work, and eventually, the right people will find you!

So, there you have it! These are just some of the ways to get your work noticed as an illustrator. I hope this is helpful!

Now, go out there and create some magic! ✨
