Every artist has their favorite tools, and when it comes to drawing in Procreate, I definitely have a few brushes I reach for again and again. One that never leaves my favorites list is Dry Ink, which you can find right in the "Inking" section of the Procreate brush library. This brush comes for free with Procreate!

It has a perfect balance of texture and control. There is just enough grit to keep things feeling handmade but still super smooth when outlining or adding final details. It is especially great for lettering or any linework that needs a bit of personality. 🙃

Another brush I adore is my Perfect Pencil brush. ✏️ This one is near and dear to my heart because I made it myself, and it is completely free for all my Doodle Squad members! It's great for loose sketching, thumbnailing, or adding subtle texture to final illustrations. If you're not part of the Doodle Squad yet, you can join for free HERE and grab the brush as a thank-you gift!
And when I want something with a chunkier, more textured vibe, I reach for Soft Chalk from my “Rough and Tough” brush bundle. This brush adds a soft, gritty texture that is perfect for shading or adding depth to illustrations.
I designed the whole bundle for artists who love a raw, handmade look in their digital work, and this brush is definitely one of my favorites because of it's versatility! The set includes a curated mix of gritty brushes that are fun to experiment with and are all super versatile. If you like that sketchbook-meets-sidewalk-chalk texture, this one is for you!
(Drawn entirely with "Soft Chalk.")

So whether you're sketching out your next idea, adding those satisfying finishing touches, or just playing around to see what your brush can do, the right tools make all the difference!
A good brush doesn't just follow your hand - it follows your style. If you haven't tried one of these yet, give them a whirl and see how they feel in YOUR workflow.

Happy doodling! ♥️
